One of the rising voices in the Alberta music scene, Nick Lange is helping to usher in a new era of young folk lyricists. A long time professional in Edmonton’s local music community, Lange only recently emerged as a solo singer-songwriter but is quickly developing a reputation as a commanding performer and seasoned writer, with a diverse repertoire ranging from introspective love songs to topical, politically-charged songs to the blues. Above all, he is characterised by a writing style that is strictly committed to reality and simplicity; Lange’s music seeks to walk the delicate line between timelessness and relevancy. His upcoming debut full length album, Nick Lange’s Road, showcases a body of work that pays respect to the folk legends that came before, while also simultaneously offering lyrics and subject matter updated to resonate with the next generation of listeners.
Nick’s sound harkens from the early 60’s tradition of “city singers” such as Bob Dylan, Paul Clayton and Dave Van Ronk as well as more traditional country/blues acts such as Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and Leadbelly.
